CRAZY about '' Manatee Blues ''
I think this book is AWESOME it's my faivorite in the series !
It's about this girl named Brenna who gose to Florida with some other volunteers from Wild at Heart animal clinic to reaserch Manatees and really makes a diference. I would recamend this book to any persone that likes water animals or just wants a Great book.

WOW!!!!
This book is very intriguing, I couldn't put it down! Brenna and two other friends (Zoe and Maggie) went to Florda to study manatees. When they get there they meet a marine biologist who works at a rescue center for manatees and other animals. This place needs ALOT of money to stay open. When Brenna takes a picture of a famous baseball player driving his boat too fast where manatees may be, and then shows it to him after his baseball game... Did she just save the rescue center? I suggest this book to anyone who likes water animals, and alot of adventure.

Wild at Heart
I absolutely LOVE any Wild at Heart Books, and I can never put them down. I would strongly suggest that you buy this book for you, friend, or a family member. Anyone could find something that they enjoy in these books!!!

Deadly Waters - National Park'S Mysteries Series
Published in Hardcover by National Geographic (01 October, 1999)
Author: Skurzynski & Ferguson
Average review score:

Action-packed excitement with many strong characters.
I am a lower elementary teacher (first through third grades) and each week we have storytime twice a week. Last year, I read this book to my students representing the "mystery" genre. Not only is this a wonderful read-aloud book for any age group, but it is a perfect mystery as every single chapter ends with everyone wanting to know what happens next. I had every student on the "edge of their seats" so to speak, which is a very challenging thing to do when you have such a diverse group.

This year, when I started storytime, my students asked if I was going to read Deadly Waters again. I told them I'd get another in the series and read that to them. I just hope the others are even half as good. Just as a side-line: the characters are truly one of the best things about this book. Strong female and male characters that the students could really root for and understand.

Deadly Waters
This is a great book.I really got into the book just by reading the first few chapters. My favorite character in the book is Briger, because he is the oldest and the strongest and the bravest. This is a good book for ages 11 and up to adult.I gave it 5 stars, becuase it is one of the best books I have read in my life. The family in the story is big, there names are Steven which is the dad,Olivia which is the mom,and then there is Ashly,Jack and Briger who are the sons and the daughter. It takes place in the Everglades.I liked it because it was a mystery because the manatees where dying and I wanted to find out why the were dying.

Deadly Waters is certainly not deadly dull.
This fourth book in the National Parks Mystery series is set in the Florida Everglades where Jack and Ashley's mother is investigating mysterious deaths in the manatee population. The story moves at a fast pace, balancing action with accurate information about the wildlife found in the Everglades. This book follows much the same formula set in the first three books in the series: Jack, Ashley and Bridger (the latest foster child the Landon family has taken in). explore the National Park and do some unofficial investigating while their parents aid the official investigation into the manatees' deaths. These books are well written and very well researched. Both mystery buffs and animal lovers should find plenty to keep their interest. The photographs in the middle of the book are a great bonus. Fans of Jean Craighead George's ecological mysteries are sure to enjoy this series as well.

Chessie, the Travelin' Man (Humane Society of the United States Animal Tales Series)
Published in Hardcover by Benefactory (April, 1997)
Authors: Randy Houk and Paula Bartlett

A wonderful learning experience for children!
Chessie the Travelin' Man is a sensitive and wonderfully written book that details the amazing true story of a very special creature. My children love the illustrations in this book as well as the rhyming prose. This story is not only charming, it is filled with factual information about a rare and endangered species. I would reccommend it to any parent or educator!

My 6yo loved it: Based on true story, beautiful pics
Lovely book, all in rhymes which my 6 yr old son loved. Based on a true story about a manatee that somehow makes it up the northern atlantic coast two years in a row. He is tagged and followed. Includes gentle info about how manatees get hurt by boats, and how few there are left in the world. Beautifully illustrated, and received a Parent's Award. "Chessie" is for the Chesapeake Bay, which he entered on this first trip. Five stars because my son loved it so.

I Know Why the Manatee Swims Naked (I've Shopped for Bathing Suits, Too)
Published in Paperback by Dockside Publications, Inc. (31 October, 2000)
Author: Rebel Lowrey Covan
Average review score:

So True To Life--So Very Funny
I happen to have been fortunate enough to see and hear Ms. Covan deliver her fabulously funny stories. The reaction is gut-busting laughter and an immediate repoire with her audience. She brings a heart-warming feel to the many vignettes of mundane life. Ms. Covan's sense of humor will have the reader laughing out loud page after page in her new book, "I Know Why The Manatee Swims Naked (I've Shopped For Bathing Suits,Too)." I have been delighted with this collection of stories and how Ms. Covan has dealt with the day to day trials of ordinary family life.

Do yourself a favor. Buy the book and have a few laughs. Ms. Covan is a fine writer who will have you looking at lycra, bread boxes, and margerine containers in a way you possibly never have.

She's a hoot!
Rebel Covan hits it on the head. What is IT? Life. She sees it, reports on it, makes us laugh at ourselves, even when we think we're laughing at or with her.

Rebel's tales conjur up images and memories galore. She lovingly pulls in family and friends to help tell her stories.

Grab several copies. Hand them out. You'll be a hit.

Loved it!

Ecology and Behavior of the Manatee (Trichechus Manatus) in Florida (Trichechus Manatus in Florida)
Published in Hardcover by Amer Soc Mammalogists (December, 1979)
Author: Daniel S. Hartman

A solid scientific study of the Manatee
Interested in manatees, but over 12 years old? this is a scientific case study of the manatee, revealing everything from their sex lives to their swimming patterns in diagrams and detailed text. If you're lookng to do serious research on the manatee, this is the book for you. I used the book as a source for the manatee subsection of my design page, manateebay.com; it is not a "coffee table book" by any means, but considering the fact that it is intended to be a scientific source text, it is fairly readable.

J. Rooker, Manatee
Published in Paperback by Focus Publishing (May, 2002)
Authors: Jan Haley and Paul Brent
Average review score:

It's a great way to learn about this endangered animal.
When a friend first introduced me to the book, J. Rooker, Manatee, we were in the middle of an endangered species unit with our third grade classes. We shared this unique manatee story with the students, and they were immediately moved by it's contents (the painted illustrations were beautiful, too). The story of J. Rooker helped the children see how easy an animal's life is threatened when humans are careless with motor boats in our waterways. In addition, the children learned a great deal about manatees from the cleverly placed facts in the story, and from the last few "fact pages" in the book. We've recommended this book to many teacher friends in other states and have bought copies for gifts, as well. It's a truly wonderful story!

MANATEE
MANATEE
Photographs by Rei Ohare text by Akemi Hotta

I just read the book called MANATEE. I thought this book was very good because it has tons of information all about manatees. The book has great photographs, I think the photographs are the best part of the book but MANATEES still has lots of reading information. I think the book is great for learning. The book goes from history to what they look like. The book has all sorts of information. I liked this book and I think people ages 9 and up would like it too. I really do recommend the book MANATEES.

Spectacular!
This book contained some of the best manatee photographs that I have ever seen. The text was general, and there wasn't much of it, but it is the perfect size for someone just learning about manatees. *Pictures, pictures, pictures!!*

A must have for manatee lovers!
The photos in this book were some of the best I've seen. The text was simple yet very informative. Every manatee fan should have this one in their library.
